Section-by-section inspection of an ageing quay wall
A routine condition survey of a concrete quay wall, carried out in low visibility and recorded per five-metre section.

The wall was divided into numbered five-metre sections before the first dive so every observation could be traced back to a fixed reference.
Visibility was under half a metre for most of the survey, so the diver worked by touch along a guideline while describing findings over helmet communication. The topside supervisor logged each observation live.
Localised concrete loss and exposed reinforcement were found at the tidal zone. The results were handed over as a section table with photographs so the asset manager can prioritise repair work.
