Restoring the bed profile at a quay toe

Repeated propeller wash had lowered the bed in front of a quay. Protection was placed back to the design profile and verified.

Rock armour being placed along a river quay from a crane on the bank.

A pre-placement survey established how much material had been lost and where the deepest scour holes had formed.

Rock was placed from the bank under diver guidance, working in strips so the profile could be checked as the work progressed. A closing survey confirmed coverage against the specification.
